History of Our Club
Runnin' Wreck was first started in 1999, but lost its charter with Georgia Tech in 2002. From then on, runners still met at the CRC bus stop on Mondays and Wednesdays, but nobody bothered submitting all of the paperwork to recharter the club until news of a $500 prize to the winning student organization in the annual GT Pi Mile 5K surfaced. In 2008, Runnin' Wreck was rechartered and won first place in the Pi Mile that year, barely beating out the GT Triathlon club. Since then, Runnin' Wreck has maintained its status as a Georgia Tech organization, become a member of the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA), and won the Pi Mile every year since its rechartering. In 2014, Runnin' Wreck became an official sports club under the CRC and grown competitively with coach instructed workouts.
